Tuesday 19 October 2010

I want to create a whole new layout to the boring average leaflets & to incorporate the idea of fun alongside creativity. I want the leaflet to be interactive, something for the public to play with and be interested in. Yet still make the public read what is being written.
I think it would be quite effective to take pictures of the volunteers and ask them why they volunteered and also why they think it is a GOOD thing themselves.

I could also then use the quotes from the volunteers and add them into my design, or use them as the basis for my design.

Children in Need have a massive campaign for people to raise money for the children. Maybe I should be branding the company with a more fun logo to make people want to volunteer to help out. Some sort of clever logo to incorporate why people would want to volunteer and also to incorporate the children aspect.

I think it would also be quite effective to take picture of the volunteers and maybe around the hospice as you cannot obviously take picture of the children.
Fundraising. The Butterwick Hospice needs £800,000 each year to keep the Hospice going and the facilities it provides. To do this it organises many fundraising activities throughout the year. For this year they have planned:

It's a Knockout!
26.09.2010
11am - 4pm
Bishop Auckland Rugby Club

Can you remember sitting in front of the television on a Sunday afternoon helpless with laughter watching It's a Knockout?
Well if you can, you will already know how much fun these brilliant events are.
Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland with the help of 'It's A Knockout' expert, Graham Fisher, and his team invite you to enter your team of heroes to participate in this fantastic foam filled challenge event.
We are looking for teams of 10 people who would each raise at least £100 in sponsorship to take up the challenge to pit their skills, strength, stamina, ability to walk a slippery pole etc against competing teams through a series of fun, foamy inflatable games reminiscent of the 1970's television show.
Sponsor money should be brought along on the day of the event (maybe your workplace would match fund the amount you raise).
Teamwork is the key to winning the most points. Teams in the original show also came with their own support including a mascot so we encourage you to name your team of heroes and bring a mascot along to whip up the crowd. We have a joker prize for the team with the best mascot and team name.
Its a knockout promo 5Digi-Group-Sample (8) (200 x 133).jpg

If you would like to get together with friends or colleagues from your work, group, pub or club to enter a team we can guarantee you a fun and challenging day!
Team registration includes a fee of £10 per team member (£100 for team of 10) which pays for your personalised t-shirts that will include your team name on the back and entries will be received on a first come, first served basis.

Wednesday 13 October 2010

I love the range of colours used for this. The design is pretty simple yet has been made more interesting by the variations of the colour

Packaging takes all different forms and printing on different materials could be a strong idea!

I really like the simplicity of the packaging above. It looks quite visually simple yet works as a set of packages and looks appealing to open.

I really like this design of packaging above also. It again is quite visually simple and doesn't contain alot on the actual package but it does make you want to pick it up and see what is inside of it.

I also really like this idea! I think it works to cut out a bit of the packaging to entice the public to see what is inside.

Again cutting out the section of the packaging makes the public want to know what else is in there and it is more interesting to the public for it to be cut out.

Monday 11 October 2010

I think for my range of products i would have to make such things as leaflets for the promoting. Possibly mailshots to send out to people. Re-branding so would make a logo and this could then be printed on allsorts of things such as pens, t-shirts, teddies, things that would relate closely to the hospice.
I think also like this design to re-brand Butterwick Childrens Hospice i would like to add something child esk like not childish because it still is a serious subject for the families and such things although i would like to use something like colouring in to add to the logo.
The Make a Wish Foundation is similar to the Butterwick Hospice yet on a much bigger scale and much more well known. What I would like to do is to re-brand Butterwick Hospice and make it eye catching and new, then make like an advertising campaign as such to promote the Hospice and promote becoming a volunteer for them.

I also think it might be a good idea to just add quotes form people working there to make it more personal and to pull on the people's feelings to want to become a volunteer.

Tuesday 5 October 2010

Form.

I think this is quite a quirky idea and works quite well really for what its idea is.

Printing onto furniture

I would guess this would have been possibly screen printed as different sheets of material. I think this could be quite an effective way of printing onto material.

Print for a shop window.
Printing on the floor..

When i first saw this design below i thought it was a really good idea to print on the floor or outside in public places. Although this design was actually not done by printing but by a high pressure hose and a die cut stencil.

How they did it..

Printing onto a wall would be quite good to do, also the idea of colouring your own paper in would be quite exciting for children.

I think this would maybe be done by flexography if you wanted to print alot, although if i was going to do something like this i would do it digitally.
Examples of different prints:
Eccentric design

The golf balls below in my opinion will have been done by Pad Printing, which is used to print onto 3d objects..

This short video shows how the pad printing is done and as you can see there has to be someone who replaces the old object with another one!!

Although below the M&Ms are 3d and would think that pad printing is used i would think it was done by a laser with some sort of food colouring as to be ok to eat.
I really like this idea below of the watch advert on a hand strap in a bus, as it is affective as it work by having the watch around your wrist and i think its quite inventive. However not a lot of people would look up to read that much text on the strap. But i would guess this was done through either flexo and have it on sheets and cut into straps afterwards or rotogravure.
I also think this is quite imaginative to print onto the side of coffee machine and things to make it look as though there are people working inside the machines. I think this would have been done digitally as there wouldn't have been very many to print because its from a small organisation.
I also quite like these however im not quite sure how they would have done them as im sure they would have been done as sheets then added round the cup, however i don't know how popular they are and don't know how many they would have printed. But i would guess Flexography.
